Nose gives you a multidimensional look, and the whole facial impression can be different depending on its shape. Therefore, it is widely admired by patients. For bulbous nose offering you a round looking, you may appear countrified and dull so you need to make refined nose through bulbous nose. 

What is Bulbous Nose?

Most people have round-tipped noses due to thick skin and small cartilage of tip. Refining the shape of such nose tip may need one or a combination of different procedures depending on its shape.

Ideal nose tip of BK Plastic Surgery

The ideal nose tip has its width (A) and height (B) similar in length, and forms a 45 degree angle with the columella.

Surgical Method of bulbous nose reduction-BK Plastic Surgery

The top section of nasal alar cartilage that has been reduced to 5~8 mm, is tied with sutures, autologous cartilage(septal cartilage or ear cartilage) can be used as the supporting structure to further refine the tip shape.

When nasal alar cartilage is horizontally spread

Both sides of widened nasal alar cartilage are trimmed and tied together causing the septal cartilage to be elevated.

Thick subcutaneous fat in the nose tip

Removing subcutaneous fat contracts skin and creates a sharper nose tip. Autologous cartilage grafting(septal cartilage or ear cartilage) is recommended if the tip is originally too low or a nasal bridge augmentation is to be performed as well. 

Bulbous Nose Reduction takes around 1 hour, and you do local anesthesia with IV sedation. After 5 to 7 days of bulbous nose reduction surgery, we remove stitches. Severe swelling gradually subsides in 5-6 days, and in about 2-3 months, your nose will appear natural.

What is most important is to maximize the results of surgery and it all depends on how devoted you are to the pre & post operative procedures.

Many people are interested in Breast Surgery these days, so for those looking in to this procedure, here are a few things that you should remember.

Pre-Operative Instructions

1. You must stop smoking and drinking 1 week prior to surgery.

2. Your medication must be verified with the doctor during consultation.

3. Take medications for blood pressure, diabetes, and thyroid with a little amount of water the morning of surgery.

4. You must avoid eating and drinking, including water, 6~8 hours prior to surgery.

5. You must not drive without a guardian on the day of surgery. 

6. You must wear comfortable clothes with no accessories and must remove all make-up including nail polish before coming to hospital. 

7. You must clean the surgical or incision site; You must shave the armpits before coming to the hospital. 

Post-Operative Instructions

1. Severe swelling is expected 1-3 days after surgery, but gradually disappears. 70~80% of swelling subsides within 2 months, and the rest disappears after 6 months. 

2. Pain on the surgical site may continue for 3-4 days after surgery.

3. Stitches are removed after 5 days, and outpatient treatment for breast massaging begins on 7th day. 

4. A drainage bag may be required, but it will be removed the next day.

5. Sitting position for 1 week is preferred over supine position to promote fast recovery. 

6.You must wear a compression bra or bandage, to firmly place the implants, continuously for 1~2 months. 

7. Wearing a sport bra for 3 months after surgery is recommended.

8. You must avoid driving right after surgery; baths and saunas are prohibited for 1 month.

9. Arm movement should be made after stitch removal.

10. You must avoid smoking and drinking for 1 month after surgery.

11. There is a risk for capsular contracture and infection. Infection can be cured with antibiotics, but for severe cases, implants must be removed. 

12. You must take medication and massage the breasts to prevent capsular contracture.

13. Breast plastic surgery does not affect any breast condition such as cancer. Thus ultrasound and MRI can be rendered regardless of operation
