Long Nose Reduction

A long nose can make a face appear as elongated and older due to compositional imbalance. It is mainly caused by longer nasal septum or droopy alar cartilage which may require a correction. 

Long noses often carry bumps in the middle of the nose bridge. Such nose can be corrected by straightening its bump and rotating its tip upward.

Surgical Methods of Long Nose Reduction

Elevating the alar cartilage

The dropped alar cartilage is fixed to the nasal septum thus it is rotated upward and the nose tip is raised.

Trimming the septal cartilage

Trimming the end of septal cartilage can elevate the nasal tip. And if necessary, the resected cartilage can be grafted on the nasal bridge so that the alar cartilage can be more rotated.

Cause of Revisional Nose Surgery and its Treatments

Contracture on Nose Tip

-Symptom

Neglecting infection after rhinoplastic surgery leaves scar on inner structure that causes hardening of nose. Nose may become short and stiff if not treated properly. 

-Treatment

After infection-causing implants are replaced with autologus tissues(corium, fat, or rib cartilage), the nose tip is reshaped using autologus septal cartilage or rib cartilage.

Imbalance in Nose and Face

-Symptom

Lack of aesthetic consideration often results in a visual imbalance in nose and face, Most patients are unsatisfied with such results and revision should be considered.

-Treatment

Revisional surgery, in this case, requires precise techniques to carry out size reduction or relocation of implants.

Deviated Implant

-Symptom

Nose appears bent or unnatural when the implant deviates from the nose bridge.

-Treatment

A new proper implant replaces the older one. The site of misplaced implant must be treated as well.

Allergic Reaction to Silicone

-Symptom

Patients who were unaware of the fact that they were allergic to silicone yet received procedure may experience allergic reaction such as prolonged swelling, and fluid retention around the nose bridge.

-Treatment

Although allergic reactions are not easily anticipated, any silicone implants are immediately removed and replaced with autologus tissues(corium, fat, or rib cartilage) upon detection of the symptoms. 

Nose Tip Deformation Caused by L-Shaped Silicone

-Symptom

When L-shaped silicone is placed on the nose tip, the cartilage can be deformed with pressure. The skin on the tip may become reddish and transplant that the implant would be visible or even protruding.

-Treatment

L-shaped silicone is replaced with another implant that would inserted only into the nose bridge area, and the tip is operated with autologus cartilage. The skin affected by deformation may be further damaged unless reinforced by autologus cartilage or alloplastic dermis.

Non incision ptosis correction is literally that a method is to correct ptosis-levator muscle weakness-without any incisions.

Mostly ptosis caused by a weakness of muscle that raises the eyelids had been corrected by an incisional method that involved prolonged swelling and increased recovery time. In order to overcome the disadvantage, BK Hospital is now performing the non-incisional ptosis correction. So patients can achieve both aesthetic and functional effects without any incisions.

Cases Requiring Non-Incisional Ptosis Correction

-Mild ptosis symptoms

-Desire to correct ptosis with non-incisional double eyelid surgery 

-Only one side having slight droopiness

-Desire/Must return to daily activity in short period of time

-No change even after double eyelid surgery

-Desire to correct only sleepy-looking eyes while maintaining the existing double eyelid line

The number of revisional breast surgery is on the rise, as the number of people going under a knife for breast surgery is gradually increasing. The reasons for revisional breast surgery can be classified into : capsular contracture, dissatisfied with size and shape. 

I will now share important bits on reasons for revisional breast surgery. 

Dissatisfied with breast size

When previous implant is not suitable for current height or body type, or desirable size of breast has been changed with trend, breast implant revision is often considered.

-Plan for revision

Replace previous implant with another implant in a desirable size. There needs to be enough time space between initial operation and revision.

Dissatisfied with breast shape

When implants are not properly inserted, it causes upper part of the breasts to be bulging, yet lower part to be flatten. Also  asymmetry of breasts and unnatural appearance of breasts after initial surgery often require revision

-Plan for revision

Detach or remove previous implants from initial insertion, then insert them into proper location.

Implants that are leaking

Although leakage of implant materials is very rare, individuals with such condition must consider revision.

-Plan for revision

Remove previous silicone gel/saline bag and insert new implants to proper location

Capsular contracture

Capsular contracture occurs when scar tissue forms around the implant, resulting in painful breast stiffness. Capsular contracture can be considered as normal reaction, but for severe condition, possible bleeding and infection can result.

Remove previous implants with contracted tissue using an incision on areola or underside fold of breast.

How to remove wrinkles around eyes

Anti aging is in top of everyone's concern regardless of age. 

Wrinkles around eyes by all means is a start of aging process.

Do not excessively rub your eyes

If you excessively rub your eyes, this can be the cause of wrinkles and dark circles. Since skin around eyes is sensitive, do not try to irritate those areas. Too much make up or cleansing is the example for it. 

Drink water often 

Drink water from 1L to 1.5 lL per day, and if you are smoker, make sure to take vitamin C as well :)

Sleep in a straight posture

If you do not sleep in a straight posture, you are more likely to have wrinkles on your face. And also, too low or too high pillow is not good for your wrinkles.

Make sure you put your eye cream on.

Eye cream improves wrinkles and dark circles around eyes. 

Skin around eyes is sensitive, so be sure to carefully choose eye cream.
